Similar to roofing projects, a window replacement job can easily take up a significant amount of time to complete. In fact, since it’s a major home improvement project, it can easily disrupt your daily routine. For your peace of mind, however, it’s going to pay to know what to expect from a typical window replacement timeline.
A Few Days Before Installation Day
A few days leading up to the installation day, you can expect a field supervisor to come to your home and take a few measurements of your window opening so they’ll know what size your window needs to be. While they’re at it, they’ll also compile a list of materials that they’ll need to complete the installation. Afterward, they’ll bring the order to the manufacturer so they can get started on manufacturing your new windows. Once the order is complete, a representative will then call you so you can discuss when would be the most convenient time for you to have the new windows installed.
Like with residential roofing projects, once installation day arrives, you can expect a crew to arrive at your home in a timely manner so they can begin removing and installing your new windows. During the project, they’ll take any debris that is produced and stack it neatly in a designated area so it isn’t in anyone’s way.
Once your new windows are installed, they’ll take the debris away and clean your property as best as they can. While they’re at it, the crew leader will take you on a final walkthrough to inspect the quality of the windows and instruct you on how to operate them as well. If you’re satisfied, you’ll be asked to sign a completion certificate. If you have any concerns, on the other hand, the crew leader will take it in writing so a customer service representative can get in touch with you.
A Few Days After Installation Day
A few days after installation day, you can expect a customer satisfaction survey to arrive in your mail. Once you receive it, take the time to honestly and openly rate your experience with your window installation contractors.
